I bought this product as i thought that it would ensure that my hair was in better condition as I wouldn't have to straighten or blow dry for as long to get it straight. How wrong I was! When i followed the instructions, i could feel my hair stretching as i combed the product through. When i finished the treatment, blow dried my hair and straightened of course it was straight but felt like straw (and the awful smell lasted for about a week). Since then, my hair has been in terrible condition with the ends breaking off. I have also noticed that i now have short crumpled pieces of hair around my hairline where my hair must have broken off. I didn't have these before the treatment. As lots of the other reviews have said. save your money and use it for an intensive oil treatment or mask, and some of the other blow dry straight serums you can get. Hope this helps.

unfortunatley I had to give a rating! I used this product on the 19/01/2012 and its been the worst mistake I have ever made.. I am uable to brush my hair I have to very carfully comb it is all breaking off. For the past week I have been close to tears whenever I even look at a comb never mind the pain when I do use it!
Now for the smell well there are no words for this I keep hoping the next wash it will be gone but no look there!

This product should be taken off the market before many other people have the same devasting results all this products seems to have done is dry my hair out make it completly unmanagable had still have the possibility of having to have most of the length cut off! Yes it that bad please do Not buy!!!

This is now my 3rd review on this product.After 2 months what was my beautiful long hair is now quite short because dispite the fact that I had already had to have 4 inchs cut off my hair continued to break really badly and it looked like I had had a really bad hair cut, my hair use to be long and all one length it is now short and layed it was the only way I caould make it look half decent and I still get that god awful smell.

This is my 2nd review . I feel so let down by this product i felt i needed to write again. Nearly a month after using this product I can say the smell has only just started to fade. When you apply it it's like sulphur (eggy), and afterwards it kinda smells like sweaty feet (niiiice). It left my hair no straighter, no easier to manage, static prone (like someones rubbed a balloon on my head),more tangle prone and smelling like an old training shoe, and it really begs the question - 'why use it?'. Even if it did straighten your hair, if you did it for a special occasion you'd be mortified cos your hair stank! The fact you can't use it consecutively tells me there's something in this product they're not telling u about. Not that you'd ever want to use it again anyway.
All in all. Avoid. I'm only just beginning to get rid of that god awful smell after a MONTH.

I wish i had read the review's on this product before applying it to my hair last night, leaving me in tears. It has destroyed my hair and urge people NOT TO USE this product.
I have medium/dark blonde hair and followed the instructions and the time periods exactly as explained. Once i rinsed the conditioner out of my hair i immediatley noticed how dry it was. It was almost impossible to de-tangle and as i was trying to brush/comb my hair clumps of it was just falling out in my hair. I was so alarmed at the amount of hair loss i felt physically sick. On trying to dry my hair it was of a stretchy consistently and i had to remove the hair from my hairbrush 6 times! My hair was in good condition before this treatment and i am petrified to wash and dry my hair again due to the hair loss. My hairdressers is closed on monday but first thing tues morning i am going to have to call them to get advice on what to do. I am really worried that i may have to have my hair cut like so many other reviewers have had to do. I have been growing my hair for the last 3 years and will be devasted if i have to have it cut.

I purchased this item in October, using the product on the 26/10/11. After doing the appropriate tests required (48 hour patch testing of all of the products contained), I was highly saticfied with the results, bragging about how amazing my hair looked and felt. It remained like this until even now but I have encountered a problem that had come with no warning in their leflets.

For a party on the 27.11.11, I decided to curl my hair with curling irons, I had hair extensions in at this time for a little help. My hair began to give off an awful smell of what smelt like singe. After checking my hair thoroughly, there was no visable damage and the smell didn't come from my hair extensions which had also been curled. After washing my hair the next day, the smell was awful still, even stronger than before. I used a Charles Worthington intense conditioner and this had no effect on the smell. I have been to see serveral hair dressers in the mean time and all have said to use mint hair treatments but this is becoming expensive for something I was not warned of and the smell is still remaining.

Although the product done as it said on the tin and I was amazed with the results, I am left with horrid smelling hair constantly and this has damaged my confidence to use the product as well as showing my hair off.

I have now, today, also had to have my hair cut to try and neaten up the fact that my hair is now starting to break dramatically. The smell i had experienced was not continued from first use, the first use smell only lasted for around 4 washes or so. I do agree, DO NOT BUY! I am shocked to read all of the below and wish i read all of this before using the product.

My hair is a nightmare. Its fine and wavy and frizzes up at the slightest hint of moisture in the air. I've tried everything and nothing worked. I was considering the Brazilian blow dry but decided not to because of the condition of my hair. I was aprehensive about Straight & Smooth as my hair is highlighted and weak but decided to go for it and did it 10 weeks ago. I am thrilled with the results. I found it easy to use but a bit messy, so next time I'll be well prepared. It didn't make my hair poker straight (which I preferred). I was left with a bit of wave and volume. What it did do brilliantly is stop the frizz. I could go out in rain and drizzle and my hair remained smooth. This lasted for more than the 6 weeks promised although the overall straightening effect diminished. Maybe my hair type was particularly responsive to the treatment. I'm doing it again but I'm going to try the Strength and Repair treament first. I'm going to USA in September and it will be hot and very humid so I've planned a timetable of treatments so I'll have one just before I leave.

I am incredibly disappointed with the CW Salon at Home - Straight and Smooth Hair Straightening Kit. I am an avid user of CW products and in all the years I have been using CW products, have never had any problems. In fact i’ve used the CW Salon at Home - Shine Booster - Hair Shine Kit a few times now and have had amazing results.
That is why I am so thoroughly disappointed with the above mentioned purchase.
I have found that not only has this product made no difference what-so-ever to the straightness or smoothness of my hair, in fact I have a found that it has significantly damaged the ends of my hair to the point where they are breaking off. I am heartbroken and feel very let down by a brand I so fervently recommend.

Luckily my hair is in very good condition (or was) so I've not been as severely affected as some users.
Whilst using the product I noticed (like others) more than usual hair loss and tangling which I don't normally experience. The smell is like rotten eggs. Most unpleasant. I followed the instructions to the letter and as I said, my hair seemed ok, if a little flyaway and more static filled. I wouldn't say it was any straighter or easier to style.
After 48 hours I washed my hair (I always use sodium free shampoo), and as well as my usual conditioner I used the Charles worthington one provided.
On drying my hair after 48 hrs I noticed four things; (1) it was drier than usual; (2) it was only very marginally straighter than before the treatment; (3) it was somewhat frizzy also; (4) the awful smell is relentless!
I would surmise that my hair is (mildly) straighter only by it's new found incapability of retaining any kind of moisture whatsoever. In short, if you've bought this product, return it immediately and instead pay for a luxurious conditioning treatment such as l'oreal 'Botox for hair' (I kid u not!) - An in salon only treatment; or if you have not bought it yet -DON'T!!

this is my 2nd review please please use this with caution, like other people this totally burnt my hair I have now had 4 inchs cut off and my hair is still breaking and an absolute nightmare to comb when wet, contacted customer services they sent a hair mask to use and repair but guess what it did`nt so after trying that had it cut,sent them the containers and the receipt and a clump of what was my beautiful long hair, they say they cannot do anything unless I send pics but a camara is not going to pick up the feel or the smell that is still lingering, or the fact that my hair is still breaking, the least they could do was refund my money, If you use it and it works for you good but just be very carefull I will never never use Charles worthington products again.

Used this product three weeks ago. Really wish I had not.

I followed all the instructions 100% [overseen by some rather amused friends!]

The awful chemical smell is STILL in my hair and it made absolutely no difference to the straightness of it. It has totally damaged my hair and my hairdresser has advised that I have at a large proportion of it cut off to try and save what i can!!!!!!!!

I too feel strongly enough about this product to post. Please use with caution. I've just had 4 inches cut off of my hair following use of this product. While applying to my hair it started to frizz and curl up in front of my very eyes.. it was like it was being fried. When I combed it through it stretched like chewing gum, as I handled it, it pulled off. I was literally pulling my hair away in handfuls. I seriously took the time to consider my suitability using the online guide and being a 'caramel;' blond and not having used bleach since the 80's (!) felt that the product was suitable. How wrong I was. Although my hair has been cut it is weak and the cuticle has been damaged. The sides of my hair are so short in places and can only be described as 'crinkly'. My hairdresser has told me not to blow dry or straighten my hair for the next 3 months to allow damage repair - every girls nightmare! Please, if you are in any doubt, do not use this product. However, that said I can recommend their Strength and Repair !!!

Worst product ever,my advice take this off the market before you end up with law suites. Like other reviwers this totally ruined my hair it looks like it has been serverly singed.

Being a straight hair fan I was really keen to try this product after reading the reviews which seemed positive. My own wavy hair had over years taken abuse from GHD's so this product sounded perfect. Sadly I was seriously disappointed and would if I had retained my receipt demanded a refund from Boots. I also colour my own hair so am used to following instructions and the leaflet included was very easy and all looked good until I rinsed my hair for the final time and was left with a tangled matted mess which smelt really dreadful. Combing my hair took some time but I dried my hair as per instructions and even used irons too as suggested ! I stayed indoors to allow my hair to settle as per the instructions but the smell only seemed to get worse during this time. On day three I washed my hair in the hope that the stench would go away but no it remained. I am now on hair wash 4 and the strong smell is still there. Its so bad even my boyfriend has commented on it. If the product had actually made my hair straighter or smooth it may have been worth it but sadly it hasnt reduced the frizz in my hair and I still using my straightners. I am giving this product 1 star and that is only for the comb which comes free in the pack !
I wont be buying again which I think is a shame as I have used other CW products and have always thought them really good.

I used this product last week. I have coloured thick wavy/frizzy in parts hair. I followed the instructions to the letter. My hair broke while I am combing the product through. It has stripped the colour from my hair. My hair now feels course and looks damaged, it didn't before. I have been trying to grow my hair for 2 years now and feel as if I will now have to get it all cut off and start again. I use CW products all the time, shampoo, conditioner, serum etc. But very dissappointed in this and really feel quite upset over the damage it has caused my hair. Wil not be recommending it to anyone and hoping that my hairdresser will be able to do something to help at the weekend. Will not be investing any more of my hard earned money in CW again.

I found this product terrible, in fact one of the worst straightening products I have tried. I have thick frizzy hair and so was very excited to put your product claims to the test. My hair was left dry and more volumous and wavy than ever. It is prone to tangles - which it never was before and I really am dissapointed in the product. Will never use again or recommend to friends at this ridiculous price!

I really love this product. It does exactly what it says if you keep combing during process and follow the instructions to the letter. My hair is normally wavy but is now straight and shiny. It does smell a bit, but not as bad as a perming solution. Its great! and i won't go back to my expensive salon straightening.

i have thick and wavy hair, was very excited by this product but very dissapointed after use, hair no different after following the instructions correctly, still had to straighten with ghd's and was no different to when i wash and straighten it normally. it also says dont wash for 48 hours after but found hair very greasy the following morning. took 2 hours from start to finish too, thats with help putting treatment on.

i was a little dissapointed with the product to be honest. i'm a mum of 2 and dont really have the time to straighten my hair which is curly, so i expected to have a slight wave after i washed 3 days later. instead i ended up with increadibly frizzy hair! i looked like a bush, even after following the instructions exactly. i would love to know if and where i went wrong.

I bought this product today from Boots. I have naturally curly hair which tends to go quite frizzy when I try to straighten it myself. I have just used the Straight & Smooth hair kit and am extremely impressed with the results! I have poker straight hair, as if it's been straightened by a hairdresser. It was very easy and quick to do and would definately use again if the product lasts 40 days (as stated on the box)!

I love, love, love this product. For years I have wanted to tame my hair and finally you have given us Smooth & Straight. What a fantastic treatment.

Don't waste your money! This product does not work - I followed the instructions to the letter, and yet within a few hours my hair had started to kink. By the next day, it was as frizzy and untamed as it always is. I still have to used my hair straighteners every day, and the only difference I can make out is that my hair now stinks, which I believe will take another wash or two to remove. So if you want to spend £19.99 on a product that will do little else but make your hair stink, then go ahead. Me? I feel conned, ripped off and a bit stupid.

Just used this kit today for coloured hair and I love how it has left my hair feeling very sleek and soft. Easy to follow instructions but just made my arm ache a little from combing continuously my hair to make sure I got the best results (will get my mum to help next time). Thanks for bringing this product out. ;-)

Amazing I am so impressed I can now go out in damp or rainy weather and not have to worry about my hair going frizzy and wavy. It saves me so much time as my hair is alot easier to manage now and I dont have to ruin my hair straightening it as much. I would really recomend this product and would definatly use it again. Easy to use with very clear instructions. Smell not a problem at all even though I had read other reviews saying it was.
My hair looks no different than if I had spent the same amount of time washing, blowdrying and striaghtening it. Hair feels quite harsh, far from smooth and looks like it will fluff outwards in no time.
I have had my hair treated with Brazilian Keratin so I know what it can look like, and this result in no way compares. It will be interesting to see how it looks in a couple of weeks.

OMG, this product has ruined my hair, my hair was coloured 9 weeks ago and I saw this in Boots, as soon as I put it on my hair the smell was disgusting and then my hair literally started frizzing up and as I went to brush with the comb, clums of my hair broke off, I am devastated, my hair is a total mess, I am so so upset! Literally 2 inches of my hair in different section has broken off, I followed all the instructions and my hair is just so dry and frizzy now, totally totally ruined my hair.

Hi, I won a kit to try free and I have to say i'm really impressed. It did take a bit longer than 25 minutes but my hair is exeptionally straight and doesnt feel dry or damaged. It actually feels really soft, like Ive walked out of a salon. It was a complete Doddle to use and the instructions are really simple which was brilliant.
