Charles Celebrates 25 Years In Hairdressing
With an international following and first-class reputation, Charles Worthington is one of today’s most influential and creative hairdressers and this year he celebrates 25 years since his first salon opened in London. As Creative Director of Charles Worthington salons, leading hair expert Charles has won many international awards, including British Hairdresser Of The Year twice, Men’s Hairdresser Of The Year and Fellowship Hairdresser of the Year.
Originally training to become an architect, Charles swapped careers to take up hairdressing, starting with just one salon, one stylist and his sister on reception! He now has three buzzing London salons seeing over 2,500 clients a week and attracting celebrities such as Emilia Fox, Jamie and Jools Oliver, Mena Suvari, Joely Richardson, Goldie Hawn, Jodie Kidd and Erin O’Connor. In 2006 he was listed in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List to be awarded an MBE for Services to Hairdressing.
Charles Worthington is also personally involved in developing and testing his ever-increasing portfolio of award-winning products, from the formulation stage to the finished product on shelf. He draws upon his innate sense of style and passion for glamorous hair to create a collection of luxurious and trend setting hair care and styling products. Having recently created distinctive looks for the likes of Sharon Stone, Gemma Arterton, Tamsin Egerton and Poppy Delevigne, Charles distils the glamour of the red carpet into his Limited Edition BAFTA and 25th Anniversary Collection featuring Big Bounce Spray. Charles works closely with this creative team defining the latest innovative fashion trends and products, as well as providing regular education and brand building activities.
Charles’ celebrity credentials have come full circle as 2012 marks the brand’s fourth year as the BAFTAs official hair partner. Charles himself is constantly on call for red carpet events, from the BAFTAs to Cannes, the Golden Globes to the most important event on the Hollywood calendar, the Oscars.
2012 sees 25 years since Charles Worthington’s first salon opened - an exceptional ambassador for British hairdressing, who rather than resting on his laurels, continues to strive for excellence, remaining at the forefront of creative hairdressing. In the early days, Charles was involved in shows including Betty Jackson and Red or Dead. Twenty years later the brand is working with the likes of Erdem (10th season collaboration) and Roksanda Illincic (first season), and creating high performance, catwalk approved styling products (as part of the Front Row collection).
